about two girls'...

A pro-photo takin' team. That's us, Amy and Danielle. We run this photography shoppe. We're based in Central Virginia, but we'll travel. Just about anywhere. We shoot portraits, teach workshops, write tutorials, and chit-chat about us. You'll find all that right here on the blog.

{Two Girls' is new for us. We have both run a photo biz on our own, but after working together on several weddings last year, we just clicked. So, we decided we wanted to shoot together all the time, and that's what Two Girls' is all about. Two friends doing what we love to do for you! It's gonna be awesome.}

    Cole | Brand New

    Thursday, February 16th, 2012

    What can I say about Cole? Um, he’s adorable. He’s amazingly calm and mild mannered. He seriously barely made a peep the whole time I was there. He has the cutest yawn ever. He has two extremely affectionate big sisters, although those  kisses may turn into blows in a few years so be warned little guy. And most importantly his mommy and daddy simply adore him. I mean you can just see it in their eyes! Of course, how could your heart not melt over this little guy?

    Congratulations Robyn and Patrick!

    a cloudy day & ten minutes in a field | Danielle’s Family

    Thursday, February 9th, 2012

    I rarely have the energy to get my family dressed and outside for a family photography session, but last Sunday the stars aligned and it just worked. It was cold and a little windy, but everyone bundled up and made the best of it. I promised Sam I only needed ten minutes, and he’ll tell you that I was right. It was still ten minutes too long in his world:)

    A little family chaos. I mean fun!

    Tuesday, February 7th, 2012

    Danielle and I wanted to do some fun photos for Valentines Day this year with our kids. So we made a pinterest board for ideas and I set to work making our very cute, in my humble opinion, mustache and lip shirts. Truthfully, I didn’t start these until the night before and I was still stitching Lucas’ and Adalyn’s shirts when Danielle arrived. But, they made it to completion so that’s all that matters, right?

    We had this grand vision of the boys drinking their strawberry soda and eating their red velvet cupcakes in their pristine white shirts and I bet you can guess about how long that lasted. I’m going to be generous and say that the shirts were clean for a good sixty seconds after opening the first soda. Ah, two year olds cannot be trusted to maintain clean shirts in the presence of colored food and beverages.

    To say that this shoot was controlled chaos would be an overstatement. It was more like chaotic chaos. I mean it was seriously nuts. The boys were in and out, screaming their heads of, in the ultra high pitch tone only small boys can achieve, wrestling with each other, riding bikes, swinging bats, oh yes and consuming large amounts of sugar. Lucas and Adalyn, they were amazing. It was like complete silence when we were working with them, which is probably when the playdoh was opened…

    Next time, we’ll have a better game plan. Maybe. I hope.

    And the ADORABLE felt hearts you see if the pictures with Adalyn and Lucas are from Play Day Toys a local etsy seller here in Charlottesville. I think these would be such a cute addition to a play kitchen. Oh and check out her store to see all the really cool play mats and sets she has for sale!

    the illusion of well-behaved subjects | how sessions really unfold

    Tuesday, February 7th, 2012

    I’ll admit that my kids are some of my toughest subjects. A few days ago, I got the crew all dressed and headed to the field in front of our house. I wanted one.single.shot of my three children. I had ten minutes, if I was lucky. It was cold, the ground was wet, we were outside, there was a ball…millions of distractions. While it was truly nothing shy of a miracle, I did get that one shot I wanted, along with a few others worthy of frames and precious wall space. I also snapped away while the boys acted like they typically do. So, while that image of my three kids might seem sweet and timeless, it was really just a brief, brief moment in a few moments of chaos. Here’s the proof…
